The famous Settle/Carlisle railway runs past the village and the Ribblehead viaduct is nearby. The location is ideal for walking, with several listed walks directly from the village. Penyghent, of the 3 Peaks, is approximately 4 miles away, and there are 2 waterfalls in the area. Salmon, sea trout, trout and grayling fishing in the River Ribble is available. Stainforth has a garage, church, public telephone. The pet friendly pub servies bar snacks and evening meals and has an outside seating area along the beckside.

Accommodation: The cottage features a stone fireplace with an open coal fire, storage heaters downstairs and convector heaters in the bedrooms. Coal and electricity are included. All beds have duvets, pillows and throws, and bed linen, towels and tea-towels are provided. There is a small, paved, front garden with a wooden bench and a secure, enclosed paved garden to rear of cottage, with wooden garden furniture. Car parking space is available and pets are very welcome.
