Guest Lounge: There is a separate Guest lounge where guests may read, use our wireless broadband facilities to access the internet on your own laptops, listen to music (CD, radio) or play chess, backgammon and other games.

Garden Areas: Outside, guests are welcome to sit in the patio or garden areas, take in the views of Lady hill with the sun setting behind and to relax after a days hiking or cycling in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

Parking: Guests are welcome to use the off-road parking available for 3 cars behind the house where you will be greeted by our flock of free-range rare-breed hens (who also provide part of your breakfast). There is also ample parking within the village. Bicycles can be securely locked away.

Pets and Children: We regret that we cannot accept children under the age of 10 and please note that we have no family rooms available. Also, because of our free range hens, we cannot accept pets.

Prefer touring?: Heather cottage is centrally placed with easy day trip drives to the Lake District in the West, York to the East and the whole of the Yorkshire Dales national park around us. 

Enjoy Great Food?: We offer delicious, varied, and locally sourced award-winning breakfasts both for meat-eaters and vegetarians (try our home made vegetarian sausages). . Also within walking distance or just a few minutes drive away, are wonderful pubs and restaurants where you can enjoy a real gourmet night out.

Interested in Gardens?: The fascinating Aysgarth Edwardian Alpine Rock Garden, which both B&B rooms overlook, is a part of the property and is visited and admired by many thousands of alpine gardeners each year.

Arts & Crafts your thing?: The whole house is an original Arts & Crafts showpiece, which we have complemented with a range of Mosaic crafted items and antique furniture lovingly re-upholstered and restored here at Heather cottage.
