At Stone House Hotel, the emphasis is on relaxation, comfort and traditional standards of hospitality.

The Stone House Hotel is a classic country house built in 1908 on the sunny side of the valley, near to the charming market town of Hawes in magnificent Wensleydale. Transformed from a private house in 1980 by Peter and Jane Taplin, the hotel remains under the personal supervision of their son, Chris, and son-in law, Peter.

Stone House provides the perfect setting for revitalising short breaks, weekend breaks, activity breaks, walking holidays or simply relaxation in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Accommodation: Three of the comfortable bedrooms are four-posters and are perfect for a romantic break. Our five ground floor bedrooms each have their own private conservatory opening directly onto the gardens. These are especially suitable and appreciated by dog-owners and guests who prefer accommodation on the ground floor. All the accommodation is no smoking, offering a totally smoke free environment for all our guests. The menu changes daily and offers a choice of delicious dishes, from the succulent local lamb and beef reared on the limestone pastures to the delicious Wensleydale cheeses, fresh fish, vegetarian options, home-made breads and heavenly puddings.

Local Area: Stone House is only half a mile from Hawes a small market town located at the head of Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales, the River Ure runs through the town and the dale which is one of the honeypot tourist attractions of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The town is famous as being the home of Wensleydale cheese at the Hawes Creamery. Other local tourist attractions include the Dales Countryside Museum & Hardraw Force waterfall.

Just 8miles away are the famous Aysgarth Falls, a triple flight of waterfalls, carved out by the River Ure over an almost one-mile stretch. Hawes is at the center of great walking country and The Pennine Way (the UK's first National Trail) passes through.
