The White Bear Hotel is situated in the pretty, bustling market town of Masham in the foothills of the Yorkshire Dales. It is the perfect base to discover one of the most beautiful areas in Britain.

We have everything to make your visit to us perfect. You may wish to stay overnight or for a few days, dine with us, hold your meeting in purpose-built surroundings, celebrate an important day in your life, or just have a drink with some of the locals in the bar.

Our team, headed by Sue Thomas, look forward to welcoming you and making your stay a relaxing and happy one.

Accommodation: Our fourteen bedrooms, named after some of the prettiest villages in the area, have been created out of buildings that were once upon a time part of a Brewery. Now they exude a sense of calm and space. They are individually designed with en-suite facilities and everything that you would expect to find in a hotel where the comfort of our guests is the most important thing of all.

Our beds are big and comfortable and our baths are deep with plenty of hot water. Our showers are invigorating and our towels are soft and generous. Coffee and tea making facilities are there, of course, and each room has a flat screen television, DVD player and Wi-fi accessibility.

There are bookshelves of books, cupboards of games and a well stocked DVD library for you to enjoy while you are with us.

For the outdoor enthusiast we have a drying room for...

wellies, walking boots and coats and, by special arrangement, a place to keep bikes safely overnight.

Food: We have a happy team of talented chefs, led by Carlos Leite, who love preparing locally sourced ingredients and creating delicious dishes.

We offer everything from sandwiches and soup in the bar at lunchtime, to a full menu in our dining room – both lunch and dinner. Menus are varied and, because we use locally sourced produce, they are seasonal too. Our extensive wine list complements our menus.

Drink: The Public Bar remains the inner sanctum of the White Bear Hotel. It may be regularly re-decorated but never refurbished, it is a bar which has stood the test of time and continues to do so.

We have been awarded the Cask Marque for the quality of our cask ales and we often feature in the Good Beer Guide. The atmospheric tap room is a very popular meeting venue for locals and visitors alike.

The Public Bar is open daily from 11am to 11pm. Food is served at set times throughout the day.

Business: Masham could not be better placed with its convenient central location in the countryside. Just a few minutes drive from the A1 it is within easy striking distance of Leeds, York and Teesside.

The Old Bottle Store, part of the original brewery buildings and an annexe to The White Bear Hotel, has now been converted into a conference and meeting facility. It is ideal for the purpose with three rooms of varying sizes.

We have available a mobile laptop projector, flip charts, screens, conference pads, a telephone and fax machine and a printer.
