Thornton Lodge offers luxurious 5 star Gold award bed and breakfast from an idyllic setting above the River Ure in Wensleydale. Located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park we provide a peaceful haven amid fine period features and modern comfort. That said, the emphasis at Thornton Lodge is very much on feeling comfortable in these beautiful surroundings and guests immediately appreciate the warm, cosy feel to the property.

This substantial sandstone property remains one of Wensleydale’s prettiest and grandest properties and represents exceptional value for money for both short breaks and longer holidays. We are open during the summer season for all types of bookings and during winter we specialise in parties and celebrations. When they stay with us, individuals and couples often state that they’d love to bring another family member or friend to share the wonderful experience of being at Thornton Lodge – thankfully this isn’t just idle chatter as they are, more often than not, true to their word and we are delighted with the way our reputation is spreading.

We like to think that anyone is able to stay here- we have two rooms that we allocate for single occupancy(even though they have double beds!) so that friends can holiday together without sharing. We have a beautiful ground floor accessible room suitable for both able bodied and less mobile guests. This room can be a twin or double and has a lovely aspect across the grounds. And,...
