Churches & Abbeys

The Churches and Abbeys found in the Yorkshire Dales and surrouding regions often tell the entire history of the area and form the integral architecture of any town or village. Many of the churches are founded on Saxon religious sites such as the All Saints Parish Church at Ilkley. These churches have progressed through hundreds and hundreds of years, often being destroyed and rebuilt as different periods in history come and pass. Bolton Abbey is a major tourist attraction, ancient ruins of a huge Abbey that would have dwarfed the area. Today the Churches and Abbeys are some of the most beautiful buildings in the region, each one unique with a different story to tell.
