A huge range of motor sports can be enjoyed in the Yorkshire Dales. Hill Climbing and sprinting, rally and rallycross, go-karting, autotesting and general racing are all activities that take place in the region with the choice of vehicle depending on the driver. With some large reservoirs in and around the dales, it is even possible to take part in water-based motor sports such powerboat racing. The Yorkshire dales are a protected national park and have a charter regarding its use by the public. Motor sports are allowed at many sites in the region and recognised as a legitimate way the public can enjoy the dales but it's also important for practitioners to respect the land and other recreational visitors.
