Outdoor Pursuits
The Yorkshire Dales is a hot spot for outdoor pursuits of all types. Many activities can be practised in the region that are not catered for in many other parts of the UK. Caving, weaselling, climbing, walking, running, rafting, cycling, orienteering are just a handful of activities that can be enjoyed in this outstanding area. Some sports are relative newcomers; bouldering is a division of rock climbing that utilises very short, low-height climbs, requiring no ropes but with very difficult moves. This sport originated in France over a hundred years ago but has only really taken off in the UK the last 20 years. In this short time the Yorkshire dales has become a widely acclaimed location for the sport.
