Bistros & Wine Bars
The Yorkshire dales and surrounding regions are not short of bistros and wine bars, and these establishments often utilise the beautiful scenery of the dales to give their patrons that something extra.
The bistros of the dales mix traditional dishes and ingredients with modern settings and techniques. There are bistros in Kettlewell, Swaledale, Masham and Hawes amongst other locations. For those who like to mix bistros with fine ales, the Black Sheep brewery contains a twin level eating and drinking establishment, with one floor a bistro and one floor a bar.
Wine bars are equally common in the dales, one of the best well known is in Ilkley, the ‘Bar T'at Ale & Wine bar', which takes its name from the unofficial anthem for Yorkshire, ‘On Ilkley moor bar t'at'. This song tells the dangers of courting maidens on the moors.
