Inns & Pubs
Inns and pubs are found in nearly every town and village in the dales and surrounding regions. It's likely that in a village consisting of only 10 or 20 houses, at least one of these will be a pub, that will either be a former or functioning inn.
The village pub is an important part of village life, and has been for hundreds of years. This is where people let their hair down, pull up a stool and enjoy a pint of locally brewed ale. Inns, which provide 'food and a bed' for both horse and rider, were once an important part of any long distance travel, when Scotland to London took days, even weeks rather than hours, the inns would serve as stopping off points for travellers of all description. Some traditional style inns, complete with stables, still survive today offering a quaint rural experience.
