Yorkshire Dales National Park to be Extended

It will not be the first time that the English country side has seen its borders and boundaries changed, West Riding, East Riding, these have now gone, names changed and so it will be from the 1st of August this year that the Yorkshire Dales shall be extended by quite a distance, 188 square miles to be precise.

Morris Dancers Recruiting New Members

Have you ever fancied joining one of the most popular Morris dancing troupes in the Yorkshire Dales? Well, now is your chance as the colourful Flagcrackers of Craven are looking to enhance their numbers by taking on new dancers and musicians. On Sunday the 18th January there will be an open session between 11.00 and 3.00 in the afternoon at the Farnhill Village Institute on Main Street, Farnhill when any prospective members can pop along and have a go. The session is open to dancers and musicians of all abilities and families are especially welcome to drop in and have a try out.

Wensleydale celebrates new life for Scruton Station after a 60 year closure!

Historic Scruton Station in the Yorkshire Dales has re-opened for the first time in 60 years to the delight of railway enthusiasts and historians alike. Since 1954 there has been little activity on the Heritage Line as the station was closed down, covered by landslip and sadly fell into disrepair.
