Duncan Roy, an outstanding young man from Northallerton has recently achieved his lifetime ambition to become a Royal Engineer. Not only has he completed the sometimes gruelling training to gain his place amongst the ranks, but he has done it in some style, being honoured by the Institute of Royal Engineers as the Top Student.

Runners in the 3 Peaks of fitness for the Fell Race

The annual Three Peaks Fell Race for 2013 is scheduled to take place on Saturday the 27th April and promises to be every bit as exciting as the previous 58 races. It's Red, Red, and Red again in Hawes!

The Red Squirrel has become a more familiar sight once again thanks to the efforts of the Wensleydale Red Squirrel Group based in the Yorkshire Dales, and the newly formed Hawes Group. Numbers of the increasingly rare small mammal have begun to rise due to the work of the group, much of which has been achieved after lottery funding was awarded to the Grizedale Forest area.

Strumming youngsters hit the high notes in Embsay!

The good old ukulele is making a comeback and is a great hit with children from a local Embsay school. The primary school pupils formed their own ukulele group over two years ago and they are now growing in numbers and performing to audiences throughout the local area.
