Burnsall Accommodation

Situated in Wharfedale in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales is the pretty village of Burnsall. With the River Wharfe running through it and its picturesque five arched bridge being one of its outstanding features the village is an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding countryside. The area is very popular with walkers, anglers, cyclists and horse riders. Bird watchers and wildlife spotters will find this a fascinating place especially along the river bank where many kinds of birds, animals and fish can be seen. The village pub The Red Lion dates back to the 12th century and is full of character, it even is said to have its own ghost. Above the local vicarage can be found a natural spring know as Parsons Well, and further along the river can be seen the amazing limestone feature of Loup Scar Gorge. Each August there is the traditional village fete which includes sports such as fell running and a tug of war competition. Close by is the delightful village of Grassington which boasts several pubs and interesting shops. Grimwith Reservoir is nearby and is a popular destination for sailing, walking and bird watching. Slightly further afield but well worth visiting is the market town of Skipton with its historic castle, many independent shops and traditional pubs serving home cooked food and real ales. Or take a boat ride along the Skipton canal and watch the world go slowly by. Bolton Abbey is also nearby and is a great place to spend a day exploring the gardens and ruins.
