Horton-in-Ribblesdale Accommodation

Situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park is the pleasant village of Horton in Ribblesdale. Lying close to the source of the River Ribble the village is a great base for walking, cycling and fishing. Many walkers taking on the challenge of the Yorkshire Three Peaks walk over Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside start their journey from here. In addition, the Pennine Way and the Ribble Way also pass through the village. It is also popular with pot holers and cavers as there are some wonderful caverns in the surrounding area. The village has cafes and tea rooms, a village store and two traditional Yorkshire pubs offering real ales and home cooked food. The famous Settle to Carlisle railway runs through the village and close by it goes over the spectacular Ribblehead Viaduct with its span of twenty four arches. Just a short drive away is the lively market town of Settle, popular with climbers as it has its own climbing site at Castleberg Rock. Golfers can try their luck at the splendid Settle Golf Club at Giggleswick. Slightly further afield and well worth a day out is the historic town of Skipton with its many cafes, independent shops and fine pubs. Here visitors can take a look round Skipton Castle which is over 900 years old, or take a leisurely cruise along the canal. Other towns close by include Sedburgh, known as England’s ‘Book Town’ and the market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, both of which are well worth spending a day exploring.
