Malham Accommodation

Historic Malham village nestles at the top of the valley of Malhamdale on the river Aire, in the stunning North Yorkshire Dales. The rugged countryside around the village is made up of limestone, which has been eroded to form dramatic pavements and cliffs which are popular with climbers and walkers, fell running is also a favourite pastime here. Being in the Yorkshire Dales National Park means that most of the pathways and bridleways are well maintained by the Park Authority. There are numerous guided walks to follow, where the surrounding scenery and views are unsurpassed, and the famous Pennine Way passes through the village. The dramatic cliffs of Malham Cove are an extremely popular visitor site and are renowned for their abundant and rare wildlife, in particular the existence if a family of breeding Peregrine Falcons, which bring bird watchers from far and wide. Each August Malham holds its annual agricultural show, an age old tradition which is a major event on the village calendar. Hundreds of visitors come along to see the farming displays, competitions and stalls and to take part in the many activities and races that are organised each year. Malham Safari also attracts visitors with its displays of artistic sculptures around the streets and stalls on the village green. Up in the hillside above the village lies the spectacular waterfall at Gordale Scar, one of the more scenic sites to visit. Nature lovers will enjoy a trip to Malham Tarn and Tarn House which is a picturesque area of nature reserve managed by the National Trust. It is an ideal place to enjoy a picnic or a leisurely stroll through the countryside.
