Details for Aysgarth Falls National Park Centre

Aysgarth Falls is part of the Freeholders' Wood Local Nature Reserve (LNR) and is protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). It comprises a gorge through which the River Ure descends by a series of stepped waterfalls consisting of horizontal layers of hard limestone separated by thin bands of soft shale. These rocks are part of the Yoredale geological series that were laid down on the sea floor over 300 million years ago. The Aysgarth Falls National Park Centre is adjacent  to the nature reserve and has ample car parking, a shop, café and toilets.

All of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority's National Park Centres are also networked tourist information centres. They offer a wide range of services, these include a local and national accommodation booking service, sales of maps, books and souvenirs and information for visitors and locals. They even provide daily weather forecasts for the immediate area.

Opening times:

Summer: 10am to 5pm, seven days a week (1 April to 31 October).
Winter: 10am to 4pm on certain days of the week (1 November to 31 March).

Please check the opening hours with each National Park Centre before visiting as times may vary. All National Park Centres are closed in January following the Christmas holiday period.
