Craven Sailing Club in Skipton has everything for sailors of all ages and abilities. A full range of expertly instructed courses are on offer and there is the chance to try out a wide selection of crafts. Regular events and fun days are organised at the club.
Welcome to the Craven Sailing Club! The club is based near Skipton in North Yorkshire. The 27 acres of water provides a great environment for learning to sail and demanding but enjoyable racing. The club welcomes sailors of all ages and abilities, expert or beginner, and has a wide variety of dinghies in the fleet, single and double handers, trapeze and assymetrics together with a number of windsurfers. Canoeists and kayakers also use the water.
There are plenty of opportunities to race in the handicap fleet on Tuesdays and Sundays or take place in one of the training events. The rest of the time the water is available for general sailing activities including organised and informal training and family fun events throughout the year. If you are looking for a friendly and active sailing club for yourself or the family then Craven Sailing Club could be just the place for you.
What We Sail: We sail a wide range of dinghies at Craven Sailing Club, with the biggest fleets being the Lasers and the RS series boats. However, in most races we use the Portsmouth Yard Stick which is a way of levelling the playing field and allows boats to compete on (something approaching) equal terms.
