Details for Farfield Mill & Cafe
The amazing Farfield Mill Arts and Heritage Centre houses an extensive group of art studios and craft galleries as well as a cafe and a retail shop. A number of artists work on site and produce a wonderful collection of traditionally made items for sale.
Fairfield Mill is an Arts and Heritage centre and is housed in a restored Victorian Woollen Mill and you can find it at Sedbergh in Cumbria. The Mill is open seven days a week, there is a small entrance fee for adults, concessions are available and under sixteen's can come for free, which helps make it a cheaper day out.
You will see many displays which change on a regular basis throughout the year, this year they have Quilt Festival, Coppice Crafting, Paintings and Drawings. Working looms are on display and with the Mill being close to the Lake District and the Dales, do come and visit. This Mill ceased being a working Mill after 156 years so it is lovely that it was not allowed to become another blot on a beautiful landscape.
The Mill has its own resident Artists so not only can you watch them make a piece you can buy a piece of pottery and you can be sure you won't see the same piece in your neighbour's house, each piece will be unique. Exhibition visiting artists also come and display their talents and certain days during the week you can see demonstration artists demonstrating lace making, spinners, weavers and rag rug makers. You will come away feeling inspired and itching to get creative yourself.
Weaver's café offers refreshments and anything from an All Day Breakfast to a light lunch to scones, homemade of course.
