Full Description: Keld is a very small village located in the Swaledale region high up in the Pennines. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is close by. Because of its location it is an ideal base to explore the surrounding countryside and is popular for cycling or walking along with tourist just out to enjoy the stunning scenery. There are woodland areas perfect for bird watching, many waterfalls and lots of footpaths.

Not far from the village both the Pennine Way long distance footpath and the Coast to Coast Walk meet. Both these routes bring many tourists to Keld who are looking for a break and to relax along the way. Richmond is 25 miles east of Keld.

Much of Keld’s income is dependant on tourism and hill farming and there are many tourist attractions around Keld. In the 19th century lead mining was carried out and the evidence of this is still obvious in some areas. Close by there are caravan and camping parks along with hotels and guest houses. There is also a youth hostel and several pubs and restaurants.
