Dating back to Medieval times the spectacular Markenfield Hall is open to the public and is a great attraction for tourists the North York Moors. Guided tours of the hall and the outbuildings around the walls can be organised for larger groups. 

This house dates back to the 14th century and even has an entry in the Doomsday book, no its not falling to pieces, it is still lived in today and yes you are invited in to have a look around this wonderful building, look out for the dogs and grandchildren which may be around at the time.

The history pertaining to this building is a lesson in itself and research has shown that the Hall is older than the other buildings that surround it and the Markenfield family held high office and where one of the ruling families of the time.

The Hall is not open every day due to the fact it is a used home but the owners do wish to share with you the beauty of this place and upon approach, you will see two black swans in the moat which you will walk along beside and then enter through the Tudor Gatehouse.

The gardens are stunning and a walk around the moat is a must to enable you to appreciate the stunning architecture of the Hall.

Inside you will be met at every room by a volunteer steward who are full of information they just wish to impart to you in order to make your experience of this beautiful hall a more informative one.

You will visit the Undercroft, the Dogs entrance, the Chapel, the Four poster bedroom, it is just the most wonderful place to come and have a look around and share briefly the joy of living in a Hall like Markenfield.
