Middleham Castle stands proud in the heart of the village, surrounded by lush green countryside. The buildings are remarkably well preserved and have a fascinating history. There are exhibitions and relics on show for visitors. 

Middleham is located in the well-loved area of North Yorkshire which is in the stunning Yorkshire Dales and as you know there are lots of things to do and places to go and see. Well, just make sure that a visit to Middleham Castle is one of them.

Now in the ownership of English Heritage, it was once home to Richard the Third , you will understand how life was in that time, in that castle, and although it is open to the stars with no roof remaining, a large amount of the internals of the castle have survived.

Come and see the replica jewel of the 15th century Middleham Stone, on certain occasions there are exhibitions, but whatever you see or don't see, the view from the viewing platform which overlooks Wensleydale, are wonderful.  The castle grounds house the oven and horse mill, well the remains of them, but hey, they are old!

There is no actual car parking at the Castle but free road side car parking is close by, no toilets are on site, you can obtain hot drinks and if you bring your own sandwiches you are more than welcome to spread the rug and have a picnic in the beautiful grounds, five picnic benches are provided for your use. Dogs are welcome in the grounds only and have to be kept on their leash, assistance dogs are welcome throughout of course.

A gift shop at the entrance to the Castle is where you can buy your information booklets and of course a souvenir to remind you of your wonderful day out.
