The busy market town of Ripon lies eleven miles north of Harrogate. Ripon has an abundance of amazing places including a magnificent Cathedral, shops, gardens, museums, a thriving market and a lot more.

Ripons has the most beautiful Market Square in England; it has the oldest free standing obelisk which dates back from the 18th Century. The 90ft obelisk was designed by Hawksmoor. Elegant Victorian and Georgian buildings line the square adding to Ripons character. Visitors are able to appreciate Ripons history by following the ‘Plaques Trail’ as they wander the streets going in and out of tea shops, bars and shops.

Not forgetting the old Victorian Bandstand which is still there in all its glory and the Spa Gardens are not to be missed. Regular race meetings are held at Ripon Racecourse and there is also the marina, restored canal as well as the Order Museum, the Yorkshire Law and the River Ure.

Fountains Abbey, the Black sheep Brewery at Masham, Norton Conyers and Newby Hall are all other popular places of interest located in the surrounding area.
