The Yorkshire Dales National Park Tourist Information

Full Description: The village of Silsden is located in an elevated position with Keighley nearby and overlooking the Aire Valley. It lies on the road which passes through Rombalds Moor via Addingham and Ilkley and onto the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The River Aire is approximately 1 mile away and the Leeds/Liverpool canal skirts the village. The region is rich in history and the village itself gets a mention in the Doomsday Book.

During the Industrial Revolution and the era of the canals Silsden was a thriving industrial area. Although some manufacturing still remains it is now largely agriculture and tourism that sustains the local economy.

Silsden has a selection of eateries, pubs, cafes and shops, together with a range of locally available accommodation to suit all pockets.

Transport links are good with both trains and buses running regular scheduled services, hence the location is particular suitable for those preferring not to drive whilst taking a holiday or short break.
