Horton in Ribblesdale
Horton in Ribblesdale is a small, pretty village situated on the Settle to Carlisle Railway Line. Horton station has recently been fully refurbished and is owned by the Settle and Carlisle Railway Trust. It is a very picturesque line and its gardens are beautifully maintained, mainly by volunteers.
The village is well visited by walkers as The Pennine Way long distance footpath passes through here. The area is a firm favourite for potholing and caving, with Long Churn caves system and Alum Pot just to the north near the hamlet of Selside, and Hull Pot and Hunt Pot on the western side of Penyghent.
