Malham
Malham is a pretty, historic village located on the southern fringe of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. There is a stream running through the centre of the village and with its dry-stone walls and limestone scenery it has a picturesque charm. There is a choice of accommodation available in and around the village, making it perfect as a base for exploring the surrounding countryside.
It is believed that there has been a settlement here for over one thousand years, and the village is mentioned in the Doomsday book as ‘Malgun'. Traces of the Iron Age can still be found. In the early 20th Century mills and mining were the main activity. Today the mainstay of the economy is tourism and hill farming.
